It is amazing from its gorgeous grounds to its diverse art collections. We lucked out by visiting on one of their Second Saturday kids' event days. When we arrived, our 7 year old son was given a cool art kit and was encouraged to participate in the many kid-focused activities. Each month has a different theme to encourage the love of art and creativity for children. Alex designed and made his own puzzle, he created a box for the puzzle, explored the grounds, and climbed trees in the grotto. We were excited that the collections were designed in a way that kept the attention of our son while also appealing to the adults. Other activities geared toward kids included magic shows, story telling, and live music performed by a children's symphony. I have been told that the grounds are gorgeous during the spring and summer, so we cannot wait to go back and explore more.
The museum is an Italian Renaissance villa that was built for an oil family as a single family home and later donated by the family to the city of Tulsa to be used as a cultural and artistic center for the area. The gardens have fountains, sculptures, a sensory garden, a summer house, and a grotto. We visited on a sunny day and were able to enjoy much of the grounds.
